So, this isn't as good as I thought it would be. I guess I just wanted the new Top Chef already. This does fill my reality cooking show void though.

The first episode was so-so, but I really did like last night's episode. I found it funny that the two people who thought they were top lost. I've always been a fan of simple tasty food. The whole gastronomic science of food is cool, but I don't think it should be done just to do it.

thoughts on the show?

I liked both episodes. But Hubert Keller vs Tim Love? That's like a 1 seed vs a 64 seed. No offense to Tim or anything, I'm sure he's a great chef, but Keller would be in the culinary HOF if there was one.

Oh and what is up with the new host girl? She's so skinny she can't know anything about good food... :p

Not surprised Wylie lost. While I've not been to WD-50, I have been to Alinea, and from numerous reviews and personal accounts, WD-50's food is nowhere near as tasty. Alinea's food was unbelievably delicious, but Achatz has a strong background in classical cooking, having worked at The French Laundry and what not. They seemed to portray Wylie as possibly having a serious emotional disorder because he seemed upset with himself almost constantly.

I'm liking this show more than regular Top Chef. I am tired of all the drama and unfriendly behavior on regular Top Chef. And though some were clear winners, I still want to taste all the food being made by all four contestants.

This. I want to see more cooking and less Real World theatrics. Plus it feels like watching this compared to Top Chef (regular) is sorta like watching the World Cup compared to MLS soccer.
