So, it turns out I own Titan Quest since it came with the Humble Bundle from a month ago.

OMFG, I can't believe I missed this game! It was released in 2006 so I was probably still on my Diablo 2 LOD/WoW koolaid but damn this game is pretty good. I just fired it up to check out how I was and boom 3 hours gone in a blink of an eye. I am looking forward to playing tomorrow.

You really need the Immortal Throne expansion (TQ:IT) as well. It fixes a lot of the annoyances of the original TQ, and adds a lot of other content (as far as I'm aware).

Check out the TQ community at www.titanquest.net (go to the forums). There's a TON of useful information, and lots of knowledgeable users that are still active there currently.

I just picked up TQ Gold (includes TQ + TQ:IT) for $2 from someone over at the cheapassgamer.com forums. There was a deal through Amazon.com where this DoW bundle also included TQ Gold for like $10 (or $5 if you had a coupon), so a number of people are offloading TQ Gold (was a separate Steam key in the package).

Black OP 2 (my own fault I knew what it was gonna be but was hoping I could get back into fps).

I now refuse to buy another fps game period until they go back to being able to actually host (decide what I want the game to use not some predefined crap), and get back to the modding community. These DLC map packs are simply a way to scam money out of people when the modding community used to do so much better /rant off.

I consider it the worse one I bought because it's the only one I actually regret because I knew better in the first place.

You realize there are plenty of modern FPS games that still do this, right?

Titan Quest is a gem. Really great game.

Get the excellent expansion if you can.

Hmmm.... blackops 2 (I'm one of the few that like fps for single player I guess)
Metro 2033... agree that while it had really cool aspects having to shoot everything a billion times was dumb.
torchlight 2 was boring, don't think I got anywhere near done

people saying metro2033...that its a 2010 game....i wouldnt count it as worst game in 2012...

I consider Torchlight 2 to be far worse than Diablo 3 (now i will get flamed =P)

so.... top 3...

Torchlight 2
SWTOR (i paid full price for it -.-) (although, technically it came out last week of december 2011)

im trying to think what other game that i played came out in 2012... cant quite remember clearly

but i would say that probably ME3 is going to be the last spot. Not because it was a bad game, cause i enjoyed it quite much. But it was one of those games that leave you a bad feeling when finishing it

It's when you bought it, not when it was released.

EDIT:

And I just checked my D3 playtime last night. I'm over 100hrs now. Beat Diablo on Inferno as of last night. Admittedly I'm probably done with the game, but I don't share the hate.

I can't believe how many ME3s. I played all three in series in quick succession (had never touched them before) and the entire trip except for a few min at the end was awesome. Seeing all the hatred over it it's like getting married to a super model, having an awesome honey moon, and yet on the last day of your three week trip it rains so you're stuck indoors. It's amazing the lack of perspective people have over this.

I said elsewhere, ME3 was the best game I played last year.

Actually this is what it was like.

Ah! I forgot about Cities XL 2012. I think I bought it for $10 on a weekend deal. It's like Sim City, except not fun. And performance/optimization problems out the ass.

I'll consider that one a runner-up.

Ugh I bought it too for even less. Basically you have to build a city almost as you would building a rail road, piece by piece.

The 2 or 3 modules I had to buy to play DayZ.

OMG what a piece of crap.
Performance issues.... And then when I am OFFLINE people can steal my stuff?
Knifing was horrid. Melee was non existant.
And then shooting.... UGH... Shudder.
And then the griefers.
I should have waited for the stand alone.

(Walking Dead has renewed my faith.....)

Blame Steam/GamersGate/Gamefly/Greenmangaming for that...I still haven't finished The Witcher and I have The Witcher 2 installed now. I never buy games until they go down in price significant so for example I plan on buying Borderlands 2 next Christmas and not before!

King Bounty Warriors of the North I agree had nothing on the other 2. I couldn't call it a bad purchase list though because I still play about 50 hours of it. Though if I'd known it would be 75% off so soon I would just have waited to buy it now!

Heroes VI I just started but I think that may get on my list for 2013 (even though its a 2012, maybe even 2011 game), it's really not as much fun as the previous incarnations but I haven't played enough. It seems like the scenarios are quite short although I will say it is much harder than other HoMM games I've played.

For Sins of a Solar Empire (to whoever replied to me, I forget his name), I played about an hour and it wasn't for me, I like campaigns and stories, I know you can zoom in but it's one of those games where what you get is nothing like the screenshots you see! Just not my cup of tea, which is unfortunate since I really wanted to like it.

I am going to have to say Diablo 3 even though I did not buy it outright (Annual Pass). Played it a good amount but it was just meh.

Tough call. I'm pretty stingy about what I'll buy, but I do like Steam sales...

Might and Magic Heroes 6 - had super high hopes for it since it went back to the classic style (2\3 are in my top 5 games ever), but it was just... boring. Couldn't stick with it.

Tera\SW:TOR (tie) - Liked Tera, but not enough to have paid for it. I'll probably play again since it's going F2P. Didn't much care for TOR at all.

Diablo 3: not a BAD game by any means, but the auction house just utterly killed the entire spirit of the franchise. Oh well.

Edit: if I hadn't gotten it in late 2011, Final Fantasy XIV would occupy all 3 spots and then some.

Read the title and thread again. It's been well established that it's games you BOUGHT in 2012, not just ones that came out.

Sword of the Stars II, made the mistake of pre-ordering it only to get an incomplete buggy mess of a game.

Towns is the only game off the top of my head that I really regret buying this year. The premise looked good, but the implementation was very poor.

After everything that was said about it at release, you still went and bought it? Nobody to blame but yourself.

SWTOR gets my first and second rank... I bought into the hype and paid full-price for it a couple weeks after it launched. I enjoyed it at first, but it quickly fell apart.

SWTOR #2 -- I came back when it went f2p and talked myself into re-subbing for a month to get the legacy points or whatever (credits for old subscribers)... I played f2p for like 2 days before quitting again. lol
