<< I've heard great things about that car, but why don't they sell it here in the US? I've heard rumors about exhaust emission issues and crash worthiness, but I don't want to believe rumors. Does anyone know the real answer? >>
Two things that really prevent a lot of muscle import cars from being sold in the US:
Drivers side is on right
California emissions is VERY strict
Drivers side on the right is an obvious one, it takes time and money to convert and even more money to build and support both kinds of driving setups. The California emissions thingy isn't applicable to all the Skylines, but the highest end ones it is. Califnornia is the strictist in the 50 states, so if the car can't be sold in California, what's the point of trying to bring it to the US (California is big on cars by a huge margin). Have no fears, the Skyline is coming 2003 or 2004 (read it somewhere).
Import muscle is coming back! RX8, Z, Skyline are all coming back! I can't wait to hear all the trash talking from some real muscle imports against the locals. I'll put my money on a Chevy any day =)
Well, maybe not against Non Fugita's RX7.
