Not that I have huge problems with any of their picks, but I generally take recommendations from Consumer Reports with more than a few grains of salt.
 
I'm calling Shenanigans on the Rav4. It's little. It's overpriced. It's underpowered.

The CR-V and Forester are FAR superior vehicles.
 
Hmmm...a GM vehicle is the only domesitic on the list

It's because the Series III 3800 is so far superior that they have banned it from competing.

I was just thinking that I would have put the Forester up there way before the Rav4. I would have to say a Ram or Tundra for the Truck catagory would have been a better pick than the Avalanche.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I dont buy the RAV4 being better than many of the comprable models.

 
hmmm I wonder why Honda is so popular in the States. Here their market share is like 1% and below. I think they lost alot from the beginning of the nineties, you saw them way more often back then - but Hondas didnt look bland in comparison back then... and maybe also had some innovations but Nowadays - I think the market share most Jap. carmanufacturers lost are domestic now.... Well - regarding cars we are technology whores - if it isnt superior tech it is not bought .

I just read, reabating and price cuts dont work so well in Germany - if it isnt the car we want, no rebate will make us buy ... well I dont really believe this but who knows - I havent bought a new car ever....

I was thinking that as well. The Ram should have won for pickup instead of the Avalanche. The Ram is a better truck IMO.
 
What formula did they use exactly, that will probably explain some of the disagreement ATOT has w/ the choices.

I'm guessing a lot of it is related to reliability, build quality, and price.

You kidding right???? Boxster is an old man car. I never liked Z3 too much, but Z4 is just plain ugly. SLK is a kick ass car. Especially less known and very rare AMG edition 🙂

The SLK is more of a GT than a sports car. Too heavy and not sporty enough. The SLK AMG is fast, but it's still more of a GT with a big engine. A Boxster S would kick its ass on the track.
