Ladies and gentlemen,

I need to purchase some PC games for the troops in Iraq. We will have 24 computers networked together, and I need to find out the hottest games out right now. I haven't gamed in 3 years or so, and I'm out of the loop. These games will only be networked and NOT internet capable.

I really appreciate the quick help, and I already know Doom 3 is on the list. 😉



 
man ur luck my buddy is getting shipped out to camp anaconda.. he dont have running water much less networked computers.... Must be nice.
 
Don't go with all FPS. How about some RTS like Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, Rome: Total War, or Warcraft 3.
 
Star Wars Battlefront might be cool too. I haven't played it online, but I had tons of fun in single player.
 
What was that commercial with the guy playing that army game, and kept on losing and was wondering how his opponent was so good..and it turned out it was a bunch of military guys he was playing?

Doom 3? A quick look at the GameSpy stats page will tell you that Doom 3 is NOT on the list of top 10 networked games.

CS:S should be pretty popular, especially with a little HL2 when there's nobody to play with. If they like RTS and aren't bent on the StarCraft model (like I am), they will probably like WC III (but Frozen Throne is a must so that you can show them DotA, which I DO like).
 
lol, yeah, some Desert Combat should relate to the troops relate well (and its great for a large multiplayer session).

Battlefield 1942 w/ Desert Combat Mod
Battlefield Vietnam w/ Point of Existence Mod
Unreal Tournament 2004 w/ or w/o Red Orchestra Mod
Call of Duty

All recent games with excellent multiplayers. Far Cry had an awful multiplayer and Doom 3 had an almost-as-bad multiplayer (only 4 people at once? come on!).

really? i've played some, and it just doesn't seem all that engaging... maybe i'm not doing it right..



i'll second soem of the suggestions here.. battlefield with desert combat mod.. cs.. warcraft 3.. brood wars kicks ass.. but can only be played in 8 man groups.. maybe you can set up some sorta tournament.. that'd be fun.. umm... that's all i can really think of..
 
ut2k4, starcraft, warcraft 3 and 2, red alert, command and conquer original (will need win9x for both of those), ut original, doom2, doom3, AA, maybe some neverwinternights, some bolo, many will say counterstrike, a few other fpses i cant remember
 
If I was living in a war, I don't think I'd be looking for a lot of FPS type games. Maybe some Mario Kart or Warcraft or something.
