I was thinking of "Waiting for a Star to Fall" by Boy Meets Girl. I remember reading somewhere that the duo ended up turning to just songwriting. They wrote "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" for Whitney Houston. The songs have a similar vibe.

At first I was like "What's this '96 Tears' one?" but then I hit play and realized I've heard parts of it, at least.

WTF! Dexys, Chumbawumba, Soft Cell, and Big Country aren't one hit wonder bands. Neither are A-ha arguably.
Amnesia was released in the US, as a followup to Tubthumping but ... I don't think it reached hit status, however that's defined.
I imagine Chumbawumba was bigger over there.

click on Insert (to the right of smilies) , select media, paste the URL, then continue.

another cool youtube link trick if you want to have the video start somewhere other than the beginning, just add '&t=XXs' to the end of the youtube URL where XX is the number of seconds in you want it to start..

for example:

regular URL:

start at 1:30

Their other top 10 hits:
1978 - "Hold the Line" - #5
1982 - "Rosanna" - #2
1983 - "I Won't Hold You Back" - #10
& i remember hearing "99" a lot on the radio back in the day.

How about:
The Men - "Church of Logic, Sin, and Love"
