Does anybody else rinse their mouths with water after spitting out the toothpaste? I have done that all my life, but I was talking to one of my friends who says that he doesn't.

For clarification, what I do is:
1. Brush teeth as usual
2. Spit out toothpaste
3. Gargle/Rinse mouth with handful of water, spit out, repeat ~x3.

Pretty stupid question I know, but I'm curious

no actually I swallow the spit and end up puking an hour later.

^^ actually I used to do that when I wanted to stay home from school when I was young, swallow toothpaste and you puke an hour or so later. stomach can't handle flouride :D

but I don't rinse, I just spit and then scrape my tongue with a scraper.

I never rinse my mouth. I just spit 3-4 times and go on my way. My breath stays minty longer :D

People think I'm weird :(

I rinse, but I've thought about not rinsing so my breath stays minty longer :)

I don't think I've ever puked from swallowing foamed toothpaste, though.

EDIT:Doh, wasted my 6666 post on this :(

I was thinking about this too. Wouldn't rinsing wash away all the fluoride from the toothpaste right away? What if you use sensitive toothpaste?

The thought of keeping the nasty gingivitisy, plaquey toothpaste in my mouth after brushing my teeth is repulsive. Stick a little fresh toothpaste in your mouth after brushing if you want that minty fresh flavor.

I didn't know toothpaste/saliva could contain gingivitis. And for the plaque, I guess you must brush your teeth 24/7 right? Cause plaque is there right after you eat something.

And that somehow makes my point any less valid?
