This is the first of many dumb questions.
My wife told me to move the pc out of the living room so we can put up the Xmas tree.
So I am gonna make it a six months stay ourt of her way project! LOLOLOLOL

For starters I was thinking of running in new cat 6 wire from the basement to three other rooms.

I will terminate the cat 6 with jacks.

If I use cat 5e cables from the jacks to the computers will that cause a problem???

Which is better,, stranded cable or solid cable? I have seen both types advertised.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy bulk cable and jacks and plugs and crimping tools and recommend specific brands.

Right now I am set up using Verizon FIOS internet, telephone and tv service.
The fiber comes into the house and terminates into the ont.
From the ont coax is run to a splitter.
From the splitter coax is run to the dvr and tv.
From the splitter coax is run to the Actiontec modem/router.
From the Actiontec modem/router I have cat 5e patch cord running to a Linksys wrt54g.
From the Linksys I have a cat 5e patch cord going to my desktop.
(I did this just to see if it would work and it does as I can choose either the Linksys or Actiontec for my wifi to my laptop.)

For now I just need suggestions on types and brands of wire and connectors and tools.

Thanks

stranded wire is for marine apps, or patch cables. In wall permanent wiring is solid.
