Took The Plunge: Windows 2000

I used WinME for nearly 2 months and wasn't all that impressed so I decided to give Win2K a try. I ran a dual boot for a week and then, early this morning, I took the plunge. I removed both versions of Windows from my system, reformatted my C partition and installed Win2K.

So far, so good!

That's just it: I do very little with games. Ironically, the one game I do have some fun with, The SIMs, is actually better (better sound quality) on Win2K.

So far I only have 3 software packages and a USB webcam that won't run on 2000. The software is Norton Utilities 2000, Partition Magic 5.0 and WinFax Pro 7.0. The stuff from Symantec is definitely on hold for now. I still have to go to PowerQuest's site and see what's up with Partition Magic.

Hello Dan,

You need the update to version 5.01 for Partition Magic to work. You can download this 30Mb update or have PowerQuest ship it to you on a CD.

Regards,
Edward

Welcome to the world of Win2K..it has been a pleasant ride for me 🙂 I would never go back to Win 98

Thanks guys, for the tips on Partition Magic. In the meantime, I got the USB WebCam going. Seems Alaris already had an upgrade available at their site. (Now I may even use the darn thing!)
