Took my daughter to her first hockey game

I invited both my kids but my son didn't want to go.

It was an okay game: the Rochester Amercians beat the Syracuse Crunch 4 - 0.

There were three fights in the first period and two in the second, which daughter thought were pretty silly.

I started going to games with my dad in 1968 and hardly missed a game over a 10 year period.

I'll go to a few games with the kids a year if they want to go, but I won't carry on the tradition that I had with my dad, mainly because the game just isn't nearly as exciting as it used to be.

He's only 7 and he's not really into sports that much yet.

That's a lot of it. Plus, when I started going there were many older veteran players. Now in the AHL they are mostly 18 - 19 yr olds who are still learning the game. The roster changes all of the time you can hardly identify with any of the players.

I've never been that big on fighting, but I like hard-nosed hockey. Outside of the fights there was very little hitting.
