I thought I did well for not having a math class in 16 years. I will start taking College Math 1 after two more classes.

How tough it College Math 1 and 2?

Thanks

I don't know what college math 1 and 2 involve, but Calc I, II, and III aren't too difficutlt. Returning to school after 16 years of down time will make the transition pretty rough I would think. Nevertheless, good luck to you.

lol.. College math 1 and 2?

My roomate had to take college 1 math.

Basically, if you can find x, you can get an A in that course:
4x+5=25

They should be easy. Of course, it depends on what you mean by math 1.

At my old school, if you're in engineering you start with calculus 1.

If you are a liberal arts major, if I recall correctly, you can start with trig or something.

I am 34 years of age and getting a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. I am employed already as a System Administrator with my primary focus as the Exchange Admin.

I think the 4x+5=25 scenario is about right, from the way the assessment test looked.

Should be a cake walk! :D

I have already finished 9 credit hours and still have a 4.0 average. I am one week short of getting 3 more credit hours. I don't think I will still have my 4.0, but I think it will still be pretty high.

Thanks for the encouragement! :D

did they let you use a caculator?

At my school, I brought a calculator to the test, but since not everyone brought one, they decided to ban all calcs on the placement test.

This is my next math class after that.

Exponents and Polynomials

Discuss exponents and polynomials and their rules. Is it any harder?

Factor different types of polynomials.

Rational Expressions and Equations

Discuss and expand on the concept of fractions.

Discuss the concept of roots and radical expressions.

Quadratic Equations

Should be a very very easy course for you.... I'm a high school math/physics teacher... that represents about 1/2 of what I cover with the freshmen. (not meant as a put down...) Some people just don't have the experience in math to start higher, especially after 16 years.

Oddly enough, the topics being covered in your class sound almost exactly like the topics in my next math class! What's weird, though, is that they aren't called the same thing. Yours sounds like "Algebra 1" while mine is called "The Advanced Theory of Numbers". Think we can still study together? ;)
