It's so surreal to see the sun start to come up practically in middle of the night and not too often that the sky is this clear. Makes for some interesting long exposure shots.

One of my favorite vacations was to Alaska, we spend some time up in Fairbanks area, and it was awesome having daylight at 2am in June.

I actually want to go there in the winter some time to see the northern lights, and to experience true "cold" unlike what we get in the winter here in the Chicago area. (It gets HOT in summer, but winter rarely goes below -10F/-23C

I would have to travel toward the Canadian border to get such crystal clear NY night skies. Nice random shots. :)

We take for granted the astounding quality of available photosensors even in the cheapest most disposable products. I took these a few days ago with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S. It's almost impossible to screw up a picture with a decent camera and pretty scenery just prior to sunset.

Yeah even with a phone it's incredible the pics you can take. Went to Ottawa a few weeks ago and I did not bring my DSLR as I did not figure we'd even have time to visit anything. Took lot of pics of parliament and stuff and they turned out pretty good. Definitely better than the first P&S cameras that came out.

Sky is too bright for 4am. I call shenanigans.

Well most of those were a couple second exposure at F1.8. So yeah it makes it look brighter than it actually was, but it was indeed bright enough that the sky was blueish and not pitch black. I'm not sure how to pull exif info off a picture but the time might be in there. It might have been a bit past 4am too.

Where I live we have about a 12 hour day/night cycle. The sky would be pitch black at 4am here. :p

Oh it usually is here too, there's only a few months where it's not. In winter it's pitch black by 5pm and still pitch black by 7-8am. That's why I think the whole clock change thing is ridiculous, it does not change a thing. :p I guess with a 12h cycle it does not change at all throughout the year then. Are you on the equator?

It shifts about an hour throughout the year. Right now the sun will be down by 7pm. At Christmas it'll be dark by six.

10 degrees north of the equator.
