TOO TIGHT - Xig S1283V + Asus M3A79-T + Corsair Dominator + Antec 900

I have a very tricky situation here where i can't decide what cpu cooler to get.

at the moment i have Phenom 9950 with Asus Silent Knight AL which with 3Ghz 1.3125V OC gives me 50C idle temps - not good.

so the only choices that i could narrow down are Thermalright 120 True Black OR Xigmatek Dark Knight S1283V. to be honest i would prefer Dark Knight as it costs less & have 4-pin silent fan included.

now, since i have Asus M3A79-T Deluxe mobo with 2 tall Dominator rams, i wouldn't know which one will fit into my Antec 900 case.

i found out that in my mobo Dark knight is the only choice since it includes the clip for 90 degrees rotation but then my tall ram is in the way. then vertically i would have to remove my side panel fan which cools my very hot Asus 4870x2.

i'm confused with this dilemma now... when i bought 900 case i thought i would be able to fit everything in it. but nowadays hardware is getting so big!

is there a way to fit all that in the case??? i wouldn't mind some modding... i can't afford buying stuff & not using it due to compatibility.

thx

If you don't mind modding, you could remove the existing plexi window and put in your own, drilling the fan hole lower than stock. Someone here replaced the window in their 1200 with glass - probably want to stay with plexi but you can find some tips if you track down that thread.

Seems like a pretty strange error on Antec's part to place the side fan mount so high up.

The Antec 900 is actually a small case once you fit everything in there. It looks big on the outside, but much of the size is the top blowhole.

thx guys... im convinced. but my antec 900 case will only have 2 fans blowing in if im to sacrifice the side fan. this is not enough since they are both filtered. u see my 4870x2 needs a lot of air when gaming. i think i will sit on cash for now & fork out on antec 1200 & xig dark knight for a perfect air cooling solution.

I have an antec900 and a coolermaster v8. To fit the side fan on with the v8 I had to cut off the corner of the fan . After that everything fit fine
