Hi- I have a decent machine however my system seems slow; any video download will skip during play back, any audio (mp3) download has skips and tick sounds when played back, my games freeze during play, and my mouse sometimes freezes for a second or two. My system is ABIT th711-raid mb, pentium 4 1.9ghz., 256 rambus 800 ram, MSI GForce 2 pro (8831)/ 2183 driver, tdk (nero cd burner), yamaha dvd, ibm 40g harddrive. I also have a dsl connection (although it is not a very fast connection). I also do not have any thing running in my systray other then my dsl connection and speaker. I dont know if anything else is running. I am using win 2k pro. My biggest concern is my games stopping during play. My video setting is 1024 x 768 on viewsonic a70, 17inch. PLEASE HELP if you can!!!!!

I don't know if this is the best advice in the world but when my computer starts freezing during games I usually end up formatting my hard drive and everything goes back to normal. You may not need to do this but it will give you a clean machine and I love having a nice clean windows install.

Try defragging. Sometimes you can have some "spyware" that might be running on your PC, this could slow it down. Remove it using a program called ad aware here..
