Too slow for HD movie?!

Ok, so I snagged a copy of Chronicles of Riddick in HD and played it through MPC (Media Player Classic) using ffdshow as filter (testing it out before I deploy the software on my HTPC). The movie is at 1080p resolution (1950x1080), I tried a simple filtering to output the picture onto my 2005FPW @ its native resolution 1680 x 1050, but it was SLOOOW. The FPS was between 1-5. So, WTF did I do wrong here? Do I need X2 4200+ to do HD output? My main rig should be powerful enough to run that?!

My main rig (the one I tested on):
A64 3000+ @ 2.1ghz (233 x 9)
2gb (2x1024) @ 233 FSB (3-3-3-8)
Sapphire GTO^2 @ 500/550

My htpc-to-be-deployed:
Dell E510
Pentium 4 521, 3.0 ghz, 1mb L2 (Prescott)
512mb (2x256) @ 533 FSB
Gigabyte 6600 PCI-E 256mb

What did I screw up? My main rig should certainly handle the HD content with ease. If my main rig chokes, there's no way my HTPC can touch the stuff.
