Too shim or not too shim....that is the question!

Ok, should I shim my athlon and risk overheating the badboy or should I not shim it and risk crushing it?

I wouldn't worry about it. AMD puts the little spoungy feet on the top of the cpu to assist in preventing the core from cracking. If they thought a shim was necesarry, they would have included one. You just gotta be very quick at attaching the heatsink, with little to no movement. Most clips now has a little notch for a screwdriver, makes attaching them relatively easy
