I build a pc for my brother's little girl.

Duron 1600/ 512DDR/ KM266PRO

The onboard video is Via S3 UniChrome (share up to 64MB)

My questions is....

I have an OLD AsusV6600-TVR(32MB) in my drawer.
Should I just go ahead and install the Geforce 256 in that PC?
Is it better for overall? or just leave it as is.

**** she just watch some DVD on the PC, absolutely no gaming ****

thanks,

I'd leave it alone if she isn't gaming.

But just curious, is Via UniChrome better or worse then old geforce 256 in performance.
Because I was thinking, onboard video card took away 64MB from RAM-hunger SP2 already.

To the best of my knowledge....aren't most internal graphics cards around the speed/perf of a MX4? Or am I too far out of the game these days?

Onboard graphics performance are just plain horrible. You don't need to share that much BTW, you can share just 16 if you're not playing games.

The Geforce256 should perform better.

EDIT: definitely better - after looking at Unichrome specs.
