I have seen some of those custom low-end suits. They look good next to a $100-200 suit, but next to something high end the only thing they offer is a better 'fit' and that is easily fixed in the higher end suit by having custom tailoring done.

I certainly don't disagree with you, but this isn't the same thing here. I own expensive designer suits as well as these are at least on par with them and are much less expensive. This tailor came at a recommendation from a sales guy at my job. I can probably point out at least 20 sales guys here that will only buy suits from this tailor going forward. It's 10000% legit. If you're in NYC next time they come around (probably feb/mar-ish), you're more than welcomed to go check it out.

personally I only wear custom made suits by one of these two individuals -- Stuart Hughes or when I am in Europe - Ermenegildo Zedna. Nice suits and the quality is top notch.

I don't have any at the moment since I don't know when they'll be coming back. They usually send emails about 3 weeks prior with the dates that they'll be available. The meeting place is always a hotel in midtown east. The Barclay. This info probably won't be of any use to you without the dates but that's all I have at the moment.

Valentino/Canali/Zegna/Brioni are all nice as well.

I have a nice blue Canali on today.

I wish I worked at a place where I had to wear a suit everyday. My friend's mom is the head seamstress at Giorgio armani and I'm hoping to grab one at 50% soon now that my body type hasn't changed in a while.

Client facing finance and law seem to be about the only two guaranteed jobs left.

Even client facing finance has started to be some sport coats here and there.

D & G and Gucci are nice assuming you are trim. They look good, quality isn't the greatest.

Might not be 'trim' but I did add 20 lbs to my max squat on Monday.

In other news - blegh. Got the suit for our celebration dinner but we have another night out during the week, just got an update on the dress code and

Cocktail attire, jackets for men (tie optional)

Now I have to come up with another freaking jacket. In the closet is a medium gray rough fabric yard sale suit(holy crap the tag says Hickey Freeman), and oversized navy and black 65% polyester suits.

The Hickey has some small holes in the arm but would pass, but doesnt match the grey pant/white and grey shirt, black stripe pant/navy stripe shirt, or khaki and random ill fitting shirt outfits I am taking. So need to find something that would work with it or pick up a Navy Blazer in a hurry. If one were on sale at BB I'd probably just do that and get it over with. Also planning on nabbing a medium blue dress shirt and black polo from the company branded lands end store if there is time.

BB does have a herringbone sportcoat in madison style and my size for $200 if local has it in stock, but not sure what I'd wear with it. Wife suggests a run to Kohls for a cheapie <$100 navy blazer that works with khaki and crappy shirt.

Too much damn money and too much damn thought.

I have never worn a sport coat. I'm not the one to ask. My first boss said sport coats are for car salesmen. Saying has stuck with me ever since.

lol, OK chuckles. I forgot, everybody on ATOT has a 300k job, drives a porsche, and wears designer euro-trash suits everywhere they go, including mowing the lawn. You are THE BOSS!

What do they wear at your euro investment bank? The sales coverage guys are always the best dressed I see...

Men's Warehouse sometimes has 2 for $300 suit sales, and they do custom fitting. Got some great suits there.

OK if you want the absolute best deal on a suit go to goodwill. I'm being serious. You be surprised what you might find. Some rich dude looking to get rid of his stuff for a tax right off and just wants something new each year could end up there.

Costco sometimes has custom suit fitting. It won't always be the cheapest but they usually give you solid quality for the money.

I mean short as in 5'-4"....

but yeah, the biggest thing you will see is that you may be swimming in the pants that come with the suit...

That is why I mentioned suit separates...

You may pay more, but you will end up paying it in alterations to the pants.

You mean like this?

I was talking about quality primarily. Give me a nice Zegna, Canali, Brioni, Oxxford, etc. etc. way before I wear those.
