I've got this oldie ISA soundcard based on the ESS ES1869F chip. It works.. it's just that I hear alot of background noise from it. I mean.. aloooooot of noises.
Maybe it's supposed to be like this, but I'm suspecting it's been phisically affected by other components in the case. The CPU fan for example. Obviously I can't turn taht off.
Is there any way that I can reduce the white noises, without changing any parts in the case..?

if that tells you something: that ess chip was really popular with compaq... they produced an oem version with the compaq name on it... and it was by far the crappiest sound card i have ever had to deal with...

make sure wave out is set at the maximum level, while disabling the things you don't need. the higher you set the system volume, the more noise you're going to get.
