I doubt there really is such thing as too much airflow, but at what point does it become pointless? lets say I have 1 235 CFM fan hooked up as intake, and two 131's as outtake and 1 30 as outtake, and I have plent of holes in the side ot balance out the additional air loss..... my case hold approx 1 cubic foot of air, so Idealy that is replacing the air in my case 4-5 times per second..... should I just put the 235 elsewhere and use the 2-131s as intake and outake?

thanks..

If you feel you have sufficient overall ventilation - which you probably do - consider focusing on "microventilation". Simply put, make sure air is blowing directly onto the sources of heat. heatsink / fan combos can be used to great advantage here...

so I have a hundred odd cfm of air blowing around, should I put a fan on the side blowing right onto the card and cpu?I would think that that much air in general would give enough to the cards... are you saying that maybe I should mount one of my intakes on the side of the case? (what about sliding it off, etc? :)

thanks...

PS anyone know where I can get a 10 watt rheostat for a decent price?

I put in 1 131cfm 120mm fan in the front, and a 90mm in the side as intakes.
Then I put 1 131cfm 120mm fan as a blowhole and a 90mm in the in the rear as exhaust.
To top it off, I installed an alpha P3 HO (before my athlon upgrade) and it sounds like
an air conditioner ;-). I really don't think any more fans in this case would make it any cooler.
The motherboard hovers around room temp, and my old P3 was about 90-95F (Athlon with stock HS, and 60mm sunon is about 111F right now)

It's really easy to get carried away with cooling. And that's OK, if you just like fans and the noise they make. If not, ditch the 235 cfm fan, unless you plan on a dual-raid scsi array with 8 10K rpm drives. Even with the two 120's, you will be well past the point of diminished returns for even a heavily loaded system, provided that flow is unobstructed and the fans are well-placed. Maybe some micro-management inside the case, like HDD coolers, if you really want..

Check the threads on running fans at 7v for future reference, just in case you want things to quiet down..
