Hello board,
I have recently upgraded my hardware. I have installed an ASUS K8N-E Deluxe with a 3200+ and 1 GB of RAM. Post-upgrade, the system is now running okay (although it starts very slowly), I just have one small nag: I am having problems installing the Nforce IDE drivers - when I do install it, WinXP won't start at all, it just hangs the system before I get to the log-on screen. The rest of the Nforce drivers have installed nicely. My Avast antivirus, Zonealarm and network are all working. I have SP 1 installed, but not SP 2 - yet.
Here's what I think is the problem: I think I have too many IDE and USB controllers installed. Take a look at this screenie: Device Manager
Should I have this many controllers installed? I have 2 harddisks installed, a CD-ROM and a CD burner. I am not using SATA or SCSI disks, just plain old IDE disks.
Thanks for any help!!
