Too little contrast

Dunno why they couldn't just take a good vBulletin-looking scheme and use that. None of the themes here really give enough contrast.

I don't agree with light blue being bad for text, Office 2007 and MS Money both use extensive light blue background on text and I find both pleasing. Yeah it's personal preference I suppose

Not to mention the font is very hard to read.

Ok partically fixed. Found the font larger button + Opera's built in Zoom helped, but those colors EECK.

Also the page buttons nearly disappear when you zoom in.

Office 2007 is fine, because the background is light blue and the text is dark blue or black. I'm talking about the actual text itself (post titles) being light blue.

As said above, light blue for a background is OK as you don't have to focus on the background it's the text itself you need to be able to focus on so it should almost never be light blue.

Right on, Zepper! I really like Office2007's arrangement. It gives you 3 choices of colors, and the black/gray suits me just fine. This layout could be the same way. Here's my current Word 07 GUI:
