Too late to buy an xbox 360?

I already have a gamecube and modded xbox (I use mainly as a media center extender and to play snes games..)

I'm about to buy a nice plasma tv, and was going to get an xbox 360 at the same time... think I should wait for the new nintendo system? When is that going to be released?


just to note - I was really impressed with the original playstation.. imo it went downhill from there
 
Nintendo should be announcing some pretty cool stuff tomorrow, but if you're going to get a 360 (which is a pretty decent console) then I would wait until they revise it and drop the price. A lot of people are having problems with current consoles, myself as well as many others on these boards have had their systems lock/freeze up or just downright die.
 
Wii is a really dumb console name and I think Xbox and PS fans will make fun of that for a while.
However Vii is also one unique console and I like a refreshing style/look.
If there are going to be great game released for the Wii I guess you should waiti for that. Too bad we don't know if they will have better games than the Xbox 360 or PS3. My money is still on the PS3 in terms of games, but microsoft is slowly but surly buying up game companies and/or having producers release their games on the Xbox 360.
I also think the Xbox 360 is more versatile than the Vii as the Vii is focused more on gaming. Haven't really looked into Wii that much.
 
I'm thinking about getting a modded XBox for my new TV and audio system. I want it for streaming video from my network and playing the snes and other emulated games.

Where can I pick one up on the cheap? Or are they high-priced?
 
I would wait till tomorrow to see what nintendo really has to offer..I am really excited.

Also if you really want an xbox 360 wait for the price to drop during xmas season.

I would sell mine. I have no idea what they sell for - I would think not that much. I think the mod chip was like $50-$60? Then I installed it (involves soldering etc) and installed the bios and crap.. kind of a PITA really. Oh.. it also has a ~160gb hdd


Personally I ended up buying the windows media center extender kit for it... mainly for the remote. I think that was $50

how long before sony goes, "me too!" and comes out with a similar controller?
 
Haha, Sony already did come out with a similar-to-Wii controller. The DualShock 3 has motion sensors supposedly, so now I'm torn whether to buy a PS3 or a Wii. The PS3's just so damn expensive.... But I do already have the PS2 games, too....
