"Tony Trim"? How does it work, and does it work on USB flash drives too?

I hope that link comes out ok. It describes using PerfectDisk to "consolidate free space", and then "AS Clean", with "Write as FF", which writes 1s to the free space.

According to the author of that post, the controller on the SSD recognizes a write of all 1s, and instead of writing the block, erases it instead.

I have my doubts that this will work on a USB flash drive, but I will try it, as soon as my wipe with vconsole's USB flash drive tester finishes. (I've been wiping a 32GB Microcenter USB flash drive, and it's going at .300MB/sec. 21.5 hours in so far, and it's at 79%.)

Edit: Interestingly, I cannot drag the URL from that Tony-Trim link onto my desktop in Win7. In fact, in IE8, I cannot even select "Add to Favorites", it refuses to work.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Looks promising. I have an 80 GB Intel Gen1 drive in my laptop (running WinXP), so have no way to TRIM it. One problem I have run into when trying to consolidate Free space (using other software) is that there are always unmovable files, the limit the amount of contiguous free space I can get.
