I haven't seen many Lions games this season, but today they look like they're a couple of years and a couple of players away from being a really good team. Could just be the Cowboys making them look that good though.

Well, obviously they're bad now.
But they have talented guys with alot of ability, and it's showing today.
I dont think John Kitna is someone you can build a franchise around. He's good but not good enough.
A team can be very good with an average QB.
Not every successful team is built around a great QB.
There are other players that can be built around.
Yes, but the defense isnt exactly Chicago Bears/Baltimore Ravens material. The running game isnt on fire either . The most common way is to have a great quarterback to manage the game and though Kitna is smart, he just dosent have the ability.
Seems to me that the defense has some good young talented players.
I understand they are not nearly there yet, but a couple of years and a couple more playmakers and they could be there.
They also have a very talented recieving corps. An avg. QB can be good with those types or recievers.
