A woman stood up to him re: #MeToo. While the big blowhard, who's made many multiples of millions with what I consider his "profit oriented personal wisdom dog and pony show" does have a point about some woman using the MeToo movement as a "victimhood" weapon, it's not the main thrust of this long suppressed corrective to the absolute SHITE women have had to endure in the workplace and beyond, by a country furlong.

Watch the video, wherein New Age Lurch employs physical bullying -- "why are you pushing back" -- to try and intimidate and humiliate this woman. Again, watch the video and listen to this sane, grounded, articulate woman stand up to Too Tall Not Jesus, which, in such a venue, with everything on his side, was absolutely not an easy thing to do.

Tony Robbins and his ilk are hucksters. He may be a tad smarter than Trump, but he is no less repugnant to me. Trump, Robbins, TV evangelists, mega church charlatans . . . they are all crudely obvious carny barker blowhards getting over on the easily duped masses of our idiocracy.

I applaud the aptly named Nanine McCool. I swear, what a name! We live in interesting times. Reality is so much stranger than fiction. You just can't make this stuff up, or top it in satire!

He definitely has a tv evangelist vibe going on. When I hear folks like that speak, I tend to dismiss anything they say because of the manner in which they communicate.

The guy is a world class conman, and piece of shit for laying hands on that woman. Why anyone would pay $5K to listen to him run his mouth is beyond me.

Same here. It's a complete turn-off. I'm thinking if you gotta over-sell something that way it's bound to be as worthless as a Trump bait-n-switch "believe me" promise.

IMO the guy is selling an aura of empowerment and making a killing off of it. He may have some semblance of a point that's arguable in the least but then it's pretty obvious what his true motivation is. He was forced to go off script by a woman who obviously can stand on her own two feet and didn't really need his style of indoctrination. To make matters worse for him, he tried to get back on script by bullying her into submission.

I'm glad Robbins eventually apologized, but this illustrates a perpetual problem with the self-help movement: the gurus behind it frequently believe the crap they dish out, and that crap often involves the false claim that you alone are responsible for everything good and bad that happens to you (so long as you buy the self-help books and event tickets, of course).

MeToo is a direct challenge to that. It's a reminder that many women are sexually assaulted and harassed simply for the sake of being women. And it's not attention seeking to support the movement and recount what's happened to you -- it's called taking a stand so that it doesn't happen again. What's more "self-help" than trying to make the world a better place and refusing to be a passive victim?

The deep deep need to seek help from others and to be accepted, to be shown the way to self respect exists for only one reason and that is because we were conditioned to not believe in ourselves. Once you internalize the feeling that you are worthless, you will never again look within for the self respect and joy of being you were actually born with. The hole created in the soul by such a loss is substituted for by ego, the need to feel valuable externally in others eyes. This is a story about a person who has made 500 million on other people's pain selling flattery to the needy.
