Just looking to see if anyone has encountered this problem.

I have a p200mmx with 48megs ram and an 8x cd-rom running windows 95. I recently put in a voodoo3 2000 card and installed tony hawk pro skater 2. There are random crashes when the game starts up (the videos part), but occasionally it will make it to the main menu. Whenever I pick any option the computer locks with the 'select' sound repeating over and over. Can't do anything, have to manually reboot.

I've tried lowering the windows resolution to 640x480 256 colors, 60 hertz. I always get the same problem. I also put on directx 8.0a. It didn't work with directX 7 that was on the thps2 cd either. All directX tests pass fine.

Other games like need for speed high stakes work fine.

i'm sure you have already tried this but i don't know what else to think of ... have you checked for newer drivers for the voodoo3? also have you checked to see if there are game patches for this?

Yeah, got the newest drivers from 3dfx. No patches available for thps2 that I've seen.

Thanks

Fixed it. To fix the problem I had to go into dxdiag and adjust the hardware sound acceleration to none.
