When Clark's secret identity as the "Red-Blue Blur" is threatened, he decides to go public by having Lois publish his story. However, he soon discovers the price that goes with public fame.

WTF. In what Superman universe has Clark Kent revealed his identity? This is either a dream sequence or Jor-El is going to send him to the past (again) and it'll be like it never happened.

I haven't watched Smallville for years, I really enjoyed it when I kept up with it, hopefully someday I will get to watch what I missed, but that would take a while.

Well, after sucking from Season 4 to 7, Season 8 has been the best season in a long while. It finally looks like they've written Lana Lang out of the show, thank god, though they should have done that in season 4.

About Clark revealing his secret identity, let us remember that Superman doesn't exactly wear a mask or hide in the shadows.

It has not been ruled out that he will not return next season.

So in other words, it's been ruled out that he will return next season?

I totally fucked that up. I'm drunk.. leave me alone. :)

I'm thinking clark will die at the end of this season because of doomsday and lex will reappear.

He went back in time right before Lois was going to tell him who Doomsday is. fail. i already get enough time travel from Lost - I don't need anymore from Smallville.

So true. I have been so incredible annoyed for most of this season having Lois written away with Lana's return. Please, for the love of God, can Lana just be gone? Definitely a filler ep, though, but it did give a bit of development of the Lois/Clark relationship. Then again, it's the same non-sense that used to go on with Lana/Clark just rewritten with Lois and in that sense it's just old.

the whole appeal of this show was when he was still in high school discovering his powers

part of me also wishes they had far more creative freedom with changing the superman universe...like how much cooler would the show be if Clark had actually told Lex his secret instead of essentially driving Lex away and basically turning him evil? There were so many points in the show where Lex really wasn't a bad guy and was actually a great friend, but they treated the situation like Jonathan (and eventually Clark) "knew" Lex could only be evil as per the comics and thus treated him as such, when the show basically had him drive Lex to become evil due to the mistrust and tension in their relationship.

Of course with Lex on Superman's side, it would definitely be lopsided for most of their opponents and it would make it pretty hard to come up with good adversaries and challenges for the show that wouldn't balloon the cost of production out of control.

I watched it for the first time in a few years. I HATE how they're forcing everyone that Supes was supposed to meet later in life into his childhood/teen/young adult years. The show is so corny it's unwatchable.

Why is a decent Superman series or even a movie so damn hard to make? They did it easily with the 1990's cartoon version.

Is really no different than the way comics were/are written. Different series often take a lot of liberties with the original canon. One of the things I enjoy about Smallville is all the cameos from Superman universe characters.

The show jumped the shark two seasons ago. I still watch it b/c I've been a fan from the start, but it needs to end this season. (And will)

Is it official-official? 7 was supposed to be the end.. now 8? It just doesn't seem like anything is really wrapping well (not that I anticipated it to ..). It does need to end, though.

I've been watching the episodes online here and there and just happened to catch this one live . . .man this show has really gone downhill. It is, for lack of a better word, stupid emo.
