i think it depends on how you look at it. i see it as martha was there for most of it with the green k in its led box. lex stabs, it bends, she opens the box so clark falls, lex thinks he stabs him, and she tells them to leave.

Well yea, that's exactly how I see it happened. It's the fact that the screwdriver or whatever it was bent. You can't bend a screwdriver by stabbing Clark...they just did it for dramatic effect, and based off the spoilers for next episode, it's an "integral" part of the story.

EDIT: don't get me wrong, this show isn't about realism, obviously. I think one episode someone tried stabbing Clark with a knife and it shattered.
 
Don't forget about Clark's protective aura that surrounds his body (That is why, as superman, his costume generally does not get damaged or torn etc.) It's protective force probably destabilized the atomic bonds holding together the metal! :Q
