Tonight's SEASON PREMIER Warehouse 13 Ep. [07-23-12] - [Ep. #0401, "A New Hope."]...

With almost no new scripted programming on any network up against Warehouse I will be very interested in the ratings.
If they can't pull 1.5 million for the premiere the show will be in big trouble.
Also, Syfy might cut scripted programming even further.
 
In the paraphrased words of Dr. Ian Malcom of Jurassic Park:

"You do intend to actually have some science fiction on your science fiction channel, don't you?"

btw from what I have read this season will be only 9 or 10 episodes depending on whether you count the Christmas episode.

I just watched it.

It was ok. Everything just rebooted. Looks like the Artie darkness will be the arc.
So, what happens to HG now? Does she stay on or do they find some job for her away from the warehouse?

Claudia will be the darkness? She's so sad+angry that Jimmy Olsen was killed and feels that none of the others care that much.

I just finished watching it and liked that they picked up right where they left off. 🙂 As to your question techs, she's a busy actress, I don't see her being a regular character. :hmm:
 
Well it was a whole episode about hitting the reset button, but as always it was enjoyable. They were never in any real danger because of it, but Mika breaking windows and Pete fighting with templars was amusing in its own right. Pete's death less so, but at least they remembered his vibes and foreshadowed it correctly.

Their artifact hunting clues were a bit out there though; it reminded me of how the old Batman series handled The Riddler's clues.😱 Also, I'm disappointed the football isn't an artifact, since that means 3 years of speculation about whose football it is has become moot.🙁

As for HG (Murray), I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more of her. Since SyFy didn't pick up the W13 spinoff, she's more available than she would otherwise be. If they did intend to be rid of her they wouldn't have mentioned her in the ending.

It did a 0.6 and about 2.15 million viewers.
That's actually pretty good since it was pulling 0.4/0.5 and 1.5 million viewers last season. It also did substantially better than Eureka did this last season, including the series finale.

Its till a long ways from Stargate: Atlantis's 1.6 ratings its last few seasons.

People are hungry for anything resembling scifi. Falling Skies is not a great show but scifi fans are tuning in in big numbers.
 
Got to love the touchdown scene. 😛

So at least scifi has some actual scifi now again with this and alphas now that eureka is gone.

As long as it can stay above 2mil it should be good. But if it falls below 2mil for more than half the season, that may be all it gets.

Let's hope that does not happen ViRGE, because that would currently leave us w/ Alphas, which I'm not a fan of to say the least. :thumbsdown:

There is Defiance coming up. However, with Canada now producing a number of scifi and fantasy shows which syfy can just pay to show, I think Syfy will be making even less scripted programming than it does now.

There will never be another Stargate or BSG type show made by syfy under its current management.

I'm still up in the air regarding Defiance techs, that being said, unfortunately, I know that we will never view shows like SG, BSG or even a new "Star Trek" on television anymore. 😡

The thing I don't understand is that there is now a global market for scifi television.

Not only are scifi shows from America shown in Canada, Australia and Great Britain they are dubbed and shown around the world. US made sitcoms and dramas have to be remade to be shown in non english speaking countries and often even in english speaking countries.

It would seem there should be more money to be made in scifi shows than before. It would seem they get the idea in Canada, and not in the US

Apparently those other nations won't pay very much for a second-run show. Piracy is pretty rampant.
