I knew that the actor who played "Mister W." looked familiar. I guess since his character doesn't have the messed up eye and is now wearing a beard we aren't supposed to care and I don't really care very much.
I am just trying to figure out who is trying to swindle who... the plot is getting sorta convoluted at this point. I hope they pull it together as I really like this show and would hate to see it go stupid like some other HBO series.
I noticed that last night. It was almost like Shakespeare was writing the scripts. Even Calamity Jane got into the act.Originally posted by: Amused
The plot is pretty obvious, even though overwrought writing and silly twists are trying to obscure it. (That's why I questioned writing and or directing changes)

Funny, I didn't notice that the dialog in Carnivale has been as convolutedOriginally posted by: Amused

Ah! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it. They need to shoot the damn writers.
If they turn this show into Carnivale, I'll be pissed.

I could see a character like Seth Bullock speaking like that but not every damn miscreant and drunkard in the show. Even that Murdering Asshole Dan Doherety was speaking like that not to mention the rummy Calamity Jane or most of the Whores.Originally posted by: vi_edit

Agreed. The sentence structure of their dialog is very hard to follow. I was working on some stuff on the laptop and trying to watch and I missed about half the "meaning" of the show because they bogged it down in a lot of useless wordy filler.
In the first season it was just a bunch of fowl mouthed filler...now it's fowl mouthed PLUS a bunch of extra fluff thrown in to make them sound educated or introspective or something.

yeah, this season seems "different" to me as well. It's like they said "hey the show is a hit as is, so lets muck it up by changing stuff!"
the formula for last season worked dammit, don't change it!

Now if in future episodes the Head Chinese Guys starts speaking like that I'm definately going to be pissed.

I just wonder if it's an intentional thing done to try and represent the "enlightening" going on in the 'Hills. Last season it was a largely anarchic gathering of prospectors, business men, and people trying to escape their troubles in other areas.
This season it's getting electricity and they are wanted to be part of a larger government. I'm just wondering if the writers are trying to make it seem like the people of Deadwood are becoming civilized along with rest of the town.
I keep waiting for some character to say "Excuse me, can you repeat that, this time without all the Bullsh!t added?"Originally posted by: vi_edit
