John Hodgman was funny. Other than that, a weak episode. Seemed like an excuse to rattle off tons and tons of backstory without anything actually happening. Prime example of telling, not showing, which is especially bad given that it's a visual medium.
I am going to have to airlock my PC, I refuse to use a computer that would help the skinjobs :|
I'm so torn about this episode : Nothing happened, but a lot was revealed/explained.
I agree they went with the "lets tell the story instead of showing people". I think they at least put a decent story mechanic (Ander's getting show and having a bullet in the brain) - cliche but at least somewhat fitting given the backdrop of the mutiny and whatnot. They then got to basically spill the beans about what happened thanks to ander's memory being restored. I didn't really get starbuck, her behavior the whole episode was strange to me.
On the other hand: It doesn't appear like they've been carefully setting this episode/telling up. Having to explain where helen has been throughout the episode seemed sorta like a "well, we finished the mutiny/revolution story line, and now that we're done with that we're going to plug holes for the next part". I don't mind that they have a "miraculous" event that suddenly grants enormous amounts of information about the final 5, but that in conjunction with the backstory for helen just made the episode seem somewhat rushed.
The episode felt like a "yea, we could drag this story out over a couple or more episodes, but fuck it - we've teased you about the final five and we didn't even really know what/who they were but now that we do we just want to fit them into the story line and then we want to get onto more interesting things ".
Overall though I'm glad that's behind them for now and hopefully the next episodes will move us forward.
