This seemed kind of like a filler episode. It didn't get good until the end when the bad guys broke into the safe house and went after the wife and kid. Now the wife has amnesia and the daughter is on her own still pining after her kidnapper who helped kill her best friend, girls are so dumb.

It looks like next episode will be pretty cool with the girl who was boning the new terrorist trying to kill him. Who knows? The whole part with the senator's kid and his psychiatrist or whatever and the dude he "accidentally" killed confuses me. I hope David Palmer gets to kick some ass, the best part was when he was trash talkin' to those thugs who tried to jack him in one of the first episodes.

I was kinda hoping the daughter bit the dust in the car explosion. Man she can get annoying :).

This amnesia thing is pretty stupid IMO.

its not really amnesia, it is a condition called disassociative (spelling?) fugue, where high levels of stress and/or a dramatic incident can lead to a temporary amnesia-like state....it really does happen to people

Does anyone else not like anyone in Palmer's family? I like Palmer, and I guess the daughter has been ok thus far, but the wife and Keith have to go!

i don't watch the show religiously or anything, but i've got to say that was pretty bad. how cheesey can you get? amnesia, tape recorder- oldest trick in the book, car explosion from falling a few feet, bleah. those nice shots of her getting up the hill were owed to us i think after that mess. how far did that car fall, a few feet? i'm pretty sure it wouldn't _detonate_ after rolling down not more than 40 yards. heh, parking next to a cliff. as my roomate says- "typical women drivers." :D

I have never liked the Palmer family problems subplot. I found them boring and uninteresting. I do like Palmer, or should I say Serrano from Major League :) I love the rest of the show. I think the daughter is hot, she wears some great shirts :D.

I agree about how this episode was kind of weak, until the terrorists got to the safe house, which made these "crack anti-terrorist officers" look like buffons to get offed that easily. That should have been figured out alot quicker. I found the dissociative fugue (I remember it from psych class) too trite, it was an easy cop-out. The daughter is going to end up calling Rick and he's gonna pick her up. Interesting about how that girl is gonna try and kill the assassin. I missed a couple of the early episodes, but I was able to catch on pretty quick.

heh yea, the whole terrorist taking down 4+ security guys was kind of weak. you'd think they would have had them check in every so often. maybe they need to watch more movies.

I taped it last night and watched it just now tonight (wed)

Man, that was a pretty cool episode, but i laughed out loud when the stupid car exploded...that was just dumb

Anyway, now apparently the daughter isn't going to trust anyone...and the mother is just ridiculous...she needs to go to a mental hospital for a long long time....

I think Jack should keep his daughter but get back together with Nina!! whaddaya think?

Anyway, the preview for next week looks pretty cool...that palmer assistant is probably gonna die.....

Hmm, let's see, go back to a hot Nina chick that's kind of close to being a spy or stay with the ugly mother with mental problems and pregnant and bad hair and old. I'd have to say I'd go with Nina and never look back. I'd hit that until she cried for mercy, and then hit it some more. She's fine.

I also didn't like the car exploding, how dumb.

Yeah, this episode was a little too "hollywood" for my tastes. :( With the exploding car they had a real shot at elevating the show beyond its competition by killing off a major character but of course they wimped out. Typical.

I also just watched the episode, which I had taped.

Yeah, the car exploding was weak. I also thought they killed off the daughter, and I thought the other assassin was going to come up and shoot Jack's wife in the head. That would have been the ballsy thing for the show to do, and realistic I think, but oh well.

As far as the wife's mental state, I think you guys are actually being too critical and pretty unrealistic when you say that the amnesia/trauma is trite and unrealistic. This woman was kidnapped. She was literally seconds away from being shot in the head (at least once). She was raped, which is the most traumatic experience you can go through. She was forced to confront a woman who had slept with her husband. Then, she narrowly escapes being shot, and in a panic, she does something stupid (parking on the cliff) that inadvertently kills her daughter.

And you guys expect her to be ok and you criticize her for not being the typical movie heroine who is never shaken by anything?

Now who's being unrealistic?

As far as other stuff... I don't think Keith's character is bad, but I really hate the actor who plays him. He's pretty awful, if you really pay attention during some of the scenes.

Are the ratings still in the toilet for the show? I have a feeling this "24 hours" is going to be the only day we'll ever see. It's a shame, because it really is the best show I've seen on TV for a while.

well, winning a golden globe is probably the best chance the show's got.

i had heard that if they *do* keep it another season, most likely it would be turned into a new episode every week kinda show (aka like everything else out there)

:(

The show is getting somewhat weak now. Weak is probably a bad word - maybe pathetic? The whole assasination plot on Jack's family...the car blowing up....almost makes me want to start watching Smallville instead of taping it

So I missed last week's episode, so I had to catch it on rerun last night.

Thoughts...

1) I kind of liked the episode right up until the car explosion. That explosion was absolutely ridiculous. A car falls off a small ledge and blows up 3 or 4 times. I haven't seen explosions like that since Pearl Harbor for christ's sake.... just too big.
2) To top it off, after all those huge explosions, Kim escapes with minor scrapes and a little dizzyness. Although I appreciate how good she looked. Mmmm, that shirt really shows her cleavage well ;)
3) Amnesia? Sigh... i'm with the guys who say that this is rather trite. Yes, she's gone through a lot of stress, and I'm sure she should be shaken up, but they could have done something better than having her wander aimlessly around while a sniper dude in a Jag is on here tail, her daughter is under a flaming car, and her husband is scurrying around someplace else. "I don't remember anything" is far too convenient.
4) I loved the interaction between Nina and the mother. If she just "fogave" Nina and nothing happened in that subplot, I would have been very disappointed. If it all goes away now that she has "amnesia," it will be even worse.
5) I'm also with everyone hating Keith. I wanted Carl to kick the crap out of him right there when they met. And he got him on TAPE?!? Oh, come ON!!
6) What's with these secret service guards being like the worst ever? Probably one of the highrst profile security cases they'll ever get in their lives and a) keith escapes the building easily, b) 4 of them get wiped out in two seconds at the safe house, and c) one of them gets infiltrated by another sniper (that chick)

Anway, despite all this, I can't wait for tonight's episode. The guys and I will be getting together as always with a case a beer and an appetite for Kim :p

I saw the keith recording his conversation with 'whats his face' long before it happend. I knew that if he didn't, he would be incredibly stupid. Yea, the car explosion was corny and same with the amneisa thing but I'll be watching tonight for sure to get my Kim fix ;)

Yeah, i saw keith slip the tape recorder in his pocket on the way out. I thought Carl would be smarter than that and would have caught him. I also didn't think taped conversations like that were even admissable in court because of the high likelihood of them being doctored. Either way, keith looks like a tall umpa lumpa.

Does anyone have a TV capture of this episode available? I tried to record it, but my tape ran out :(

Thanks
