Yeah, that was the main thing that frustrated me about that episode. I would've said the important things right at the moment not having the slow conversation. I would've been like... "oh, I'm so sorry son, everything is my fault. What you did was the right thing. I have some very important news for you. A counter terrorist agency is here at the house and they say you've been infected with a
deadly virus. This means, you can
die from it (that'll surely grab his attention to the seriousness of the issue). Please come home before you kill millions of other people." Or better yet, have Jack talk to him, not his dad who just had an argument with him. Pathetic....
