Light dances on the windsheild of my 1994 subaru outback legacy sedan. I am sitting alone pondering the wonders of the universe when Sherry knocks on the window. I am startled and tell her to come in. The fresh air, as she opens the passenger door is a cool breeze that caresses my face and cools my lungs. She smiles and climbs in. Our eyes connect and the dancing of the light on the windsheild is reflected in her eyes.
Tonight is our night.
?Do you know what I feel?? I ask.
?Yes, but tell me anyways.? She giggles.
?There was once a time, a place in my life where everything was a void, and I was the center ? the essence of that emptiness. But then, one day I realized that I was surrounded by light, by goodness, by grace and compassion. I realized that there is hope in the world.
?The day I met you, the sun shone brighter. The ocean was bluer. Roses redder. Smiles bigger and wider. And your eyes.
?Your eyes. Let me just stare into them.?
She smiles, and sighs.
