Overall show quality for me is Conan > Leno > Stewart > Letterman > Kimmel > Kilborn

Stewart has some funny skits, but the length of interviews is WAYY too short, and some of the guests are not that appealing to me. I am glad he's there though, because otherwise you would not see some of the guests that are pretty informative.

Conan is first because his skits are moderately funny, his inteviews are terrific, and he doesn't suck up TOO much to the guests. Leno is second because his skits are generally the funniest, and he tends to have the big name guests. I hate the skits where they make up products or show stupid products, but I love the ones that involve the audience or people out on the street. His guests are top notch. His interview skills have gotten better recently, but he still needs some work. I also admire Leno for being a genuinely nice guy.

Letterman is below those three because his comedy skits have gone way downhill. I miss the earlier days. His interviews are third best after stewart and conan.

Interviews for me is Stewart > Conan > Letterman > Kimmel > Leno > Kilborn

Skits are Leno > Conan (barely) > Stewart > everyone else

Guest quality is Leno > Letterman > Conan > Kimmel > Stewart > Kilborn

Here's my take on Leno and Letterman as I flip between channels.

Leno is not that good of an interviewer; nor is he good at improvising.
His jokes are all scripted, with an occasional quick witty joke he pulls out of his head.
As for interviews, he might as well have a monkey do them, because he basically reads from his flash cards the whole way.
Kevin Eubanks might as well be mute. Leno could definitely use someone to talk to as fillers.
Headlines rock, Jaywalking can be funny at times, his intern/Italian mobster guy skits are pretty good.

Letterman is definitely the more entertaining interviewer, and his jokes are slower paced (he doesn't jump from one joke to the next like Leno does, he lingers on with them for awhile).
What annoys me is that he'll keep repeating the same stupid, not funny line over and over again and make that stupid looking face while cleaning his teeth with his tongue all the time. Conan seems to have picked up the facial expressions habit from him.
With Schaeffer, although not exactly a funny man, he can at least carry a conversation with Letterman and give Letterman something to fall back on, unlike Eubanks.
Top 10 sucks, stupid human/pet tricks is OK, Rupert(?) the deli guy has absolutely no personality, and the black stagehand guy is slightly better than him.

Monologue = tied
Skits = Leno
Interviews = Letterman
Guests = Leno (for the most part)

Overall, I like Leno better.
Letterman comes off to me as a sleezy character while I can relate with Leno more.

LETTERMAN IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you see him on Howard Stern. He is the unfunniest guy ever without his writers. You could see he was just an act

On the other hand, Leno and Conan can do improb and are funny no matter where they go.

Is Tough Crowd with whatever his name is still on? oh man i m forgetting his name

it usually came on after the Daily Show, dont know if it still does

Leno then Conan

Same for me... When the girlfriend is over, We dont watch anything... usually in bed at that time... 🙂

I cant stand how Letterman looks... he looks like the trailer trash that lives down the road from me.

Plus, I love cars... so I share that with Leno...

Letterman still has some of the magic that made the old SNL and Monty Python great.

And he has more BIFF.

personally I think Leno is a lot more talented than the formulaic Tonight show allows for, but he's probably partly to blame for sticking to it. I never thought it was all that great even when Carson was on it.

Letterman for me, other than that I don't really enjoy these kinds of shows much anymore, becoming too political.

Not so much comedy as it is dragging people through the mud.

I find letterman has a little less of that, than Leno.

IMO anyways.

I don't really watch late night shows anymore but on the rare occassion I may because my wife has one on I always have preferred Leno and Conan. Letterman gets on my nerves for some reason.
