A show filled with readings of real people showing what democracy is about in our history. A real education about something a lot of people feel 'something is missing' in out democracy today.
Zinn is famous for his book, "A People's History of the United States", which is a book with the history of our country we all know told from the point of view of groups who are usually ignored.
For example, what is the history of the American revolution from the perspective of women?
I find Zinn's books great (as shown by his inclujsion in my current recommended reading sig).
My favorite so far, though isn't his bestseller, but rather 'Declarations of Independance', out of print, in which he looks at a lot of important questions, such as the idea of 'just war', from his WWII service.
The clip I saw - he was a guest on last Friday's Bill Moyers - was of a woman at a violent strike between workers and police, where a 22 year old woman found herself stopping the violence.
As I mentioned in another post, one of his messages is how Democracy is a 'bottom up' activity, not top down, and he provides some good reminders from our history what democracy is about.
Hopefully responses can be mostly based on the show, good or bad.
