toner refills

I searched already and all I found was people saying this comes up frequently and to do a search, well those old posts must have been deleted or they're just not showing up when I search for "toner refill." So I'm going to ask the question again with hopes that I'll get some good responses and perhaps save everybody some time when people actually use the search funciton and find this thread.

I recently bought a konica/minolta 1350W and all the reviews said that the printer really slows down when the toner runs low, at which point you can't just add more of the toner dust because the printer knows if you've actually changed the toner cartridge or not, if you don't replace it with a new OEM cartridge it'll perform a self cleaning before each print job or some such nonsense. So I'd like to keep the cartridge topped off as best as I can as a new cartridge would cost nearly as much a new printer. Is this generally a good idea? Any ideas where to get the stuff?

not sure about that model but i have a samsung 1710 laser printer. I bought some toner to refill mine off ebay for like $15 for 2 bottles of it so I can refill it twice. For mine anyway I do know that you can only refill it a couple times then you need to replace the cartridge. I would think that trying to keep the cartridge full all the time would be a hassle and messy, mine was printing pretty bad but when i took it apart i spilled a bunch of toner on my lap and just made a huge mess. But after I refilled it with the new stuff and cleaned the parts inside its printing great. Dont know if any of this helps you out or not but good luck

so assuming I didn't spill any on my lap or anywhere else there's no reason not to try refilling a toner cartridge once or twice. I didn't mean I'd try to top it off every day or even every month, with the amount of printing I do I'd only think about refilling the toner cartridge once every 6 months or so.
