Still too pricey for me. I'm going to wait for the Co-Pilot Live iPhone App to go on sale again for $19.99

I'm even cheaper than the good Captain. I'm waiting for the google app. Waze will tie me over until then.

Hey lotust,

I'm doing a little work with TomTom. You can actually get the TomTom app to work on older generation iPhones by pairing it with the TomTom iPhone Car Kit which has an internal GPS chip. You can read more about it here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=1019&Category=2&Lid=4

thanks man. Do you know how large this tomtom app file is? I want to make sure my phone is not trying to access the internet 100 times in a trip.

So does the 3G, if that's what you have.

It uses cell towers from what Im reading

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=523117

this does not always work for me in spots where I live. Im sure it works well for others than me.

EDIT: After reading the whole link I posted it looks like the 3G does have a hamerhead gps II chip
