Tom's Hardware reviews *POLL*

I like tomashardware a lot, they have such wonderful reviews/tips I believe. I like a lot of thier hardware reviews, very detailed info about new hardware. Too bad thier forums aren't as well known/easy to view as anand's are.

they are horribly biased against amd. i dont trust their cpu reviews, but i do like their other stuff like video tests and etc.

I dont speak for "WE" but I have a bias for the better performing microprocessor for lower price.

I was reading Tom's website before I found Anand's website. Tom has the ability to tweak the fanboys' noses.

People have written that he is bias towards and against AMD and Intel.

Fixed.

Despite it making me look bad... I still think thats mildly funny, I wouldn't say that "they give me ammunition for when I feel the need to go to the local electronics store to fvck with the sales people, because my life is so empty and I need to feel superior to someone."

While you may interpret what I posted earlier as that, doesn't mean how it is. Most conversations at frys are quite peaceful, just today I happen to encounter a moron who doesn't know how to compare systems. It's not like I was poking fun at him because he doesn't know the exact fabrication method of the intel 815 chipset and why SPECIFICALLY the 440BX is engineered better than the 815 chipset... If he is going to say that one platform is better than another, he better have a pretty good basis like them running at the same clock equivalent speeds. I forgot to mention that he was the one being the "smart ass" the whole time, it just didn't bother me so I never mentioned it. (Had a smirk on his face the whole time...)

Possibly, but that's a hard case to make considering how often the P4 was recommended during the late athlonXP / pre 64 days.

He was good in the old days (cyrix overclocking) but then he got a taste of "web fame" and it all went to crap

They SLATED the 3200+ xp and questioned the who point of the K8. They didnt seem to like the FX either......

I dont trust benchmarks anyway..........But then how do I Decipher whats a better chip ? ! lol.

yeap.

Once he started taking money from advertisers you knew who was going to get a good review. I guess it was about 3-4 years ago when it really started going to crap. At the time i quit looking at it he was way to biased for his backers.

But i still look at them when looking for stuff heck i look all over to get the best idea i can.

I like the site and thier massive ammounts of reviews, but the site is sooooo unorganized, basically looks the same for the last 5 years, and their forums blow too.

I like their constant stress test between amd and intel... kinda funny to see amd own intel on it.

Man people may get upset with his attitude, but Toms is still the standard as far as I am concerned. There are a lot of hardware sites, but Tom just brings more to the table. He tries things even if they ain't perfectly correct, for example, the 7 day Stress test he's doing now. Tom has got some of the best content you can read on pc hardware. Granted he can sometimes come across biased, but that site just produces some really good stuff and they have been doing it for a very long time. Anandtech, Hardocp, Techreport, Aceshardware, Firingsquad, Lostcircuits, and Hothardware are also among the very best IMO as well.

i liken his reviews to every other on the web. some benchmarks, some opinions, and a final word. i try to read them from all different sites, then use that to buy what will suit my needs.

honestly, searching various forums for products im interested in and reading user problems/opinions carries the same weight an any site review.
