Tom's hardware review of Barton.

check the AT review, the benchies go back and forth between the two
from the reviews i've read so far the rating is justified, and AMD should be able to get a 3200+ model out of the core
the 2500+ model is more interesting to me..should be able to oc well and come in quite a bit cheaper (my faithful tbird 1.4 is feeling a little old)

Accubyte.com already has pre-ordering of the 2500 & 3000+'s, but I e-mailed them(no reply as of yet), as they are reporting the cache wrong for it to be a Barton core, they say a total cache of 384kb, seems a little short for a 512kb L2 and 128kB L1 cache.....But the pricing is right where it should be between the 2400(266) & 2600(333). They also show 7-10days before outbound shippment, doesn't seem likely to me though as most sites are reporting late March before delivery's of the 2500+.

March if lucky. Tom's said around 163 die per wafer but that is with industry standards for yield. AMD is no where close to industry standards.

What are AMD's current yields, and where did you get the information?

Ya, I should have said farther behind but didn't want to start a war.
Hehe, I see. I love AMD (main rig is AMD), but I can accept reality, I mean Intel does have a leg up on AMD right now as far as high-end performance/overclocking, but as far as budget overclocking, it's bliss right now in AMD land.

I don't rate Tom's review very highly. I have pooled some reviews in the Official Barton thread:

HERE

The general consensus is that it's neck and neck, not the a$$ kicking that Tom's thinks it is.
