"For The Most Part" being the key word. There is always a cliche that has a use for it, and will use it.

Cliche? Are you trying to say niche, because it makes no sense otherwise. 4 cores is a waste for practically every home user since the vast majority of software that home users use regularly (games, internet, office apps) do not additionally benefit in anyway over dual cores which already aren't fully utilized by most typical apps. The software to maximize this potential isn't getting released next week either, or even next year. More than 2 cores is the future, but the future is certainly not now. Maybe 3 or 4 years down the line we'll need that many cores, but releasing them now seems to be nothing more than an exercise in the "look at what we can do" game that Intel and AMD are currently playing.

This nonsense about "nobody needs 4 cores" sounds like Gates' infamous "nobody needs more than 640K" comment.

What's nonsense is the people who still continue to attribute this quote to Gates who never actually said it, or anything similar to it.
