Yup, finished the new road bike so tomorrow will be a 35 mile test ride. Hopefully no major tweaks are needed.

edit: see pic later in thread

Thanks.
It is sweet. Just had a few short rides to work and back.
The frame is a size 58 (cm). Ended up at 18lbs :D and $2055.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

Yeah... id be too worried riding those... but those elites arent exactly cheap either. ;) Wait... so you built the whole bike yourself? Probably... since you have the work stand and all. That's pretty cool. Have fun tomorrow. :)

Yeah I built it up myself. Got the frame off eBay and the rest from the shop.
If you look around there are great deals out there. It usually doesn't pay off to buy used shifters and other drivetrain parts since the prices on eBay can be inflated compared to a reputable retailer. Sometimes there are great delas on those parts. But handlebars and other parts can be had for cheap from eBay.

It's fun to build.

Woah!!

Did 38 miles with a few friends today in a decent pace for a guy in my shape.
Amazing feeling. Very fast bike compared to a MTB on the road.

No major tweaks needed. Just have to tighten the right shifter, LOL, it kept moving around a bit.

Wow, 18lbs? wtf! is it made of paper/cardboard? holy sh1t man.. thats pretty cool though, you must be able to go pretty fast/easily on that thing. must be satisfying having built it yourself!

It's actually an aluminium frame. The thickness of the downtube is like a coke can, well not really but it's damn close. :Q
I am 260lbs  but the bike can take it.
The fork is full carbon and makes the ride comfortable. It's satisfying to put it together myself.

Looks great! That thing should be very speedy indeed.

You inspired me to post a thread for my own new road bike. Mine is very nice indeed but looks a little lifeless compared to yours - I am not totally enamoured of titanium's battleship looks, and I might have to invest in a paint job one of these years . . .

Happy riding!

Nice bike Don_Vito. I agree on the Titanium battleship looks but hey, 18.5lbs is very respectable.
How do you like the Campy drivetrain. I never tried that.

I have always been a Campy guy. I just prefer the more decisive, mechanical shifting feel of Ergopower to the silky. silent shifting of Shimano. Also, I like the way it allows one-stroke upshifts and downshifts all the way across the cluster. IMO Campy has a far more elegant appearance as well, and I appreciate Campy's tremendous history and racing legacy as well. These are just my opinions as to aesthetic preference, but they are strengthened by the wacky futuristic appearance of the new 10-speed Dura Ace.

how much did it cost to build it up?

I have an old 7-speed steel trek I want to rebuild for road riding. I have a feeling I'll need all new components (it has 6 spd shimano 600ex with biopace chainrings and all).

Mine? $2055.

I don't know hoe much you have to spend. The problem is that if it is too old then some new parts won't fit. Wheel sizes have changed from the 10 speed era of the late 70's and early 80's.
What model is it?
