She just forced me to take a twenty to pay for gas as I was running on fumes and brought her home. I have approximately twelve dollars with which to buy her something. Does ahyone have any great ideas for something meaningful that will cost almost nothing? I was thinking about buying a frame and making a collage of photos from our vacations and stuff, but I'd really like to do more.

Oh and yes, I will buy her some alcohol 🙂

UPDATE 05-02:

The evening went very well. I bought all the stuff to make chicken broccoli alfredo from scratch, and it turned out very well. It was probably the best meal I have ever made before. We both loved it. We hung out with some friends for a while, then went bar hopping, where she got free drinks. Neither of us got too drunk as she had to wake up at 5 am today to go to work, and we both have to run. We had nice buzzes going and the group we were with was very fun. seriously, that there is already more than enuf. the frame with collage, alchohol, & maybe some roses...?
 
Write her a card saying, "I am broke from buying beer for you for all these years. You will get your gift next year now that you can buy your own!"

haha, good point. 😉 However, making $50 a week in college, having to pay for for my car and insurance leaves little room for anything else financially. I'm supposed to work until 1am tomorrow but I took the day off so I can spend time with her. I am definitely going to make her dinner as well.
 
just take her downtown with some ppl, don't bars usually give free shots to birfday girl anyway? bar hop get her boozed up, get yourself a beer and maybe a slice of pizza, and go home happy
 
Make her dinner, set the best table you can. I know you are in college, if you can find a candle, those are always nice. Single rose, maybe. For cake, get a cupcake, with a candle, go out for icecream, or buy a pint. You could go for a romantic drive, there's lots of stuff you can do, cheaply. You could give her a massage, pamper her, she'll love it. Good luck, and have fun. 🙂
 
A dozen imported roses from walmart $9.97. Make and printout a nice card on your computer. Go bar hopping and you be the DD. One free drink per bar for her and maybe a free soda for you.

Idea resource

Check that out - there are tons of ideas, lots of sappy stuff that doesn't cost a dime.

My own contribution - use one of those sites that lists all the free stuff you can get on your birthday and take her around for a "progressive" dinner, going to restaurants and places where she is able to get free birthday stuff. If you did it right, it could be really cute.

[edit] BTW, she sounds like a winner. Gives you gas money because she knows you're broke? She'll be the type to be appreciative of anything you do for her birthday as long as you put some effort into it.
 
Don't get her anything.

Edit: On second thought, maybe a 6-pack of beer. Make sure you drink at least 4 out of the 6 bottles though.
