LOL poor Patranus!
Never, ever update your OS just before a trip. Esp. if it's an Apple OS.Ah ok. I'd also probably delay a bit if iOS 4.2 was up too for the iPad.
I thought you canceled flights/reservations just to hear what Apple had going on. 😀

Well there are a lot of old people that will go nuts for this - Steve Jobs being among them. Unfortunately Apple's user base is youth-skewed, and no one under 40 gives a hoot about the Beatles.I think it's hilarious that they expect people to be excited about them releasing something that's 50 years old just because they're Apple. I really can't wait for the whole Apple fad to die off.
i'll be honest. i went to apple.com today to see what the announcement was. i saw the beatles is now on itunes things and didn't think anything of it, so i kept fishing around apple to find this "BIG NEWS" but i couldn't find anything. then i searched google and that's when i realized, wait, Beatles on iTunes is apparently the big news.
how... lame

Normally I'd agree with you. But there's a whole sub-segment of the recording industry setup around selling you things you already own. I'm not sure whether Apple will sell enough to recoup whatever costs they have from this deal (I really think it was done just for Jobs' ego; his love of the Beatles is well known), but they're going to sell a sizable number of Beatles songs regardless. One would assume that those who have been long-time fans of the Beatles will have bought their albums on CD by now so the ability to buy them again isn't a real reason to celebrate...
