I recently purchased this game from steam for my sister. She has an x58 platform with a i7 920 and 2 evga gtx 580's in sli. I had one of them laying around collecting dust so I added it to her solo gtx 580.

Before I set any of the settings for the game I updated her drivers to the 320.00 beta drivers.

I have read that people are having crashes and graphical issues with this game especially on nvidia hardware. I also see that some of the recent driver releases have addressed issues along with game patches that steam applies.

When in sli I get a kaleidoscope effect with the colors and it looks horrible. When I set it to a single gpu there still seems to be graphical anomalies especially seen with her hair. I am using the ultra settings with everything on max. She does not see this issue in other games.

My question comes down to this has anyone else still had issues with this game with the latest drivers and patches? I just want to rule out an issue with her system and havent been able to find anything posted in recent days online to suggest the latest driver has helped or hurt the game for anyone.

I appreciate any input and help thank you.

I see the kaleidoscope problem on my 670. Nvidia is busy claiming it's due to the factory OC on the card...I'm running the latest released drivers (official, 314 I think) - I haven't tried the 320s. It's a known problem. Turn off tesselation or motion blur people, people are saying.

Edit: Actually, the number one suggestion is turning off exclusive full screen.

I will try the full screen option thank you. The tesselation and motion blur did not do anything for me when off. I tried turning down the settings as well and even playing with the nvidia control panel settings no effect on those either.

That did the trick turning off exclusive full screen. Thank you for that. I'll still have to wait for the other issues to get fixed via an update like for example her hair looks horrible in comparison to the rest of her.

Do you have Tress FX on? With that on, the hair looks great. With it off...not so much so.

I did that at the beginning of the game [would not load] and then fought with drivers to get my 580sli usage balanced .eg. 85% + 65% ,only to try exclusive full screen on again 3/4 into the game and bang 99% + 99%
-you might want to run it lower than ultra on some settings ,won't see much difference imo.

As bad as nv's drivers are, this is probably the game dev's fault. I think that because they were too lazy to add decent AA support (OGSS and FXAA suck)... I expect more from Crystal Dynamics.

RGSS, on the other hand, should be the standard because people don't need 1k fps at all times when 60 fps is sufficient.

The graphics in today's games suck. Lossy files and hardware lossy TC need to cease to be utilized by devs because they make games look like crap.

I checked again it was on Tress FX. There was definitely more detail to the hair but it did not look as good as the nvidia dawn demo.

Speaking of that I tried that demo with the 2 gtx 580 in sli and I get that kaleidoscope happening with that so I am inclined to believe it is a driver issue as on my pc with 2 gtx 680 in sli I don't get it in that demo.

Dunno. I resolved the issue in tomb raider by turning off motion blur (a feature I hate, anyway.)
