RIP! Extremely good author, he captured cultural trends throughout the late 60s into the 90s.

Tom Wolfe, an innovative journalist and novelist whose technicolor, wildly punctuated prose brought to life the worlds of California surfers, car customizers, astronauts and Manhattan’s moneyed status-seekers in works like “The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby,” “The Right Stuff” and “Bonfire of the Vanities,” died on Monday in a Manhattan hospital. He was 88.

As a wanna bee hippy Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test was the only book I read from him, loved it. RIP Wolfe
That got me started. I went back and read the Pump House gang which was about surfer/beach bums, then Tangerine Flaked Streamlined Baby which was about early Nascar. Never read Bonfire of the Vanity's though (wall street). I started A Man in his own, but it was really long and I never finished it.
