Hi,

A few months ago, i had damaged my athlon 700. I posted here (and at amdzone.com) and i was given the name of Tom@ocpower.com who repairs and modifies athlon processors. I shipped him the proc, payed my 50 american dollars, but it has been over a month since i last talked to him, and I can not get ahold of him by phone or e-mail.
Anyone here had any contact with him, or can help me do so?

appreciated,
Jordan]

well i did get to know him, and i see no reason why i shouldn't have trusted him
I visited his website, was recommended to him by 3 or 4 different ppl, and coversed with him in e-mail correspondance for at least a month before i shipped it.

I honestly don't think he would throw away his reputation for 50 bucks a damaged athlon 700

please anyone who has delt with tom recently or has any idea of whats going on with him, let me know

I even called him at the # on his page and only reached his voicemail...

neither through e-mail or through my voice-mail have i received a reply...

please, if you see him posting anywhere let him know I'm looking for him...I hope this is all just a misunderstanding

Hey Jordon,

Sorry, I don't get over here too much lately, just not enough time in the day.

I was out of town for a bit, but did reply to your message some time ago, been waiting to hear back from you.
Did you get my first message to you after your package first arrived?
In that message I explained that the damage to the chip was far more serious than just the bad resistor network that you described.
It also appears that perhaps when you tried to solder on it yourself, that you may have damaged it further.
I attached these pics to my reply, they are some high res scans of the chip and the damage that I took after I cleaned up all the excess solder from your repair attempt. chip 600 dpi and damage 1200 dpi
As you can see in the pics, the contacts for the slot are badly damaged and or missing.
As I said I would in my first message back to you, I did try and repair / replace the landing pads. It was not succsessful, getting a good bond to the burnt pcb was the main problem as the repair did not hold up to several insertions of the cpu. I wish the news was better.

As far as I know, my email address has not been having any trouble and is working. Mail me and we can figure out what you want to do with the chip.

Tom
