so i'm watching Season 4 of Smallville on DVD and it made me think.

why, kids don't get to get their own versions of superman?
The Superman movies w/ Reeves may not have all the F/X like modern movies, but they are well done IMO 🙂

i have a feeling the superman franchise won't die anytime soon.
1. I'm talking about the Superman movie franchise, not Smallville or the comics.
2. After viewing the teaser for the new Superman movie, I know it will be a rental for me.

i wasn't referring to Smallville either.
i don't think the teaser tells you enough of the movie to say. i prefer teasers that don't show many of the really good scenes.

Um yeah.....especially having Gene Hackman playing Lex Luthor, and Ned Beatty being his faithful sidekick, spouting out, "Mister Luth-aww! Mister Luth-aww!!!" :roll:
They were fine for kids growing up in the 70's, when wire tricks and early fx were all they had. I see no reason not to remake the flicks, especially if they're sticking to the original story (which the first 3 supes flicks just barely did).

Superman II was far, far, FAR better than the first one, they turned goofy Luthor into a supporting role an had the trio of badasses from the Phantom Zone as the main villians. As to the FX for Superman II, they rushed them to get the movie done, so they could have looked better than they did.
Richard Donner, the director from the first movie, got booted off the second movie after having already shot a bunch of scenes. They replaced him with a guy named Lester who shot new scenes and replaced most of the ones by Donner. WB is releasing a "restored cut" with Donner's footage back in. Hopefully, they might "fix" the special effects that weren't up to par because of the rush job. Just as long as it doesn't have a scene where General Zod suddenly uses his heat vision first and misses at point blank range.
