He is a very good actor, however, I think Morgan Freeman is the most skilled actor alive today. That being said, Clint Eastwood has always been my favorite. (As long as I can remember at least)

Eh ehm* Christopher Walken*

Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken need to do a movie together. Hell they could just have a camera crew follow those two around for and hour and a half and you'd probably have a better more entertaining movie than half of what gets made anymore.

Ah, and let's throw Morgan Freeman in there as well.

I don't know what it is, but those three I never get tired of seeing in movies. They might not always be the most fitting for the role, but they still pull it off and are at the very least entertaining.

I think I read somewhere, that Tom Hanks is a distant relative of (Civil War era
President) Abraham Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln.
"In 1818 an attack of milk sickness struck the Little Pigeon Creek community. This is a disease contracted
by drinking milk from cows which have grazed on poisonous white snakeroot."
"On October 5, 1818, Nancy Hanks Lincoln passed away at the age of 34."

Later, Abraham Lincoln's step-mother was Sarah Bush Johnston Lincoln.
(Related to President George Bush??)

Anthony Hopkins is my favorite actor. Have you seen him in the movie Worlds Fastest Indian? What a performance. My second favorite actor is Paul Giamatti (Sideways)

Agreed. Giamatti is amazing in anything he does.

"The Burbs" is one of my favorite movies of all time. Tom Hanks is absolutely hilarious in that movie.

it's funny to think that Tom hanks started out as a comedian and now we see him in all these serious rolls and he pulls them off so well.

 for tom hanks.

saving private ryan = one of my favorite movies of all time

Hanks blew chunks in The Davinci Code. he was horrible.

great current actors

Philip Seymour Hoffman - though i admit, i couldn't sit through Capote.

Definately a quality flick. "I've been blown up! Take me to the hospital."

I  Tom Hanks.

My top favorite actor.

But he did kind of suck IMO in Da Vinci Code though some have tried to tell me thats because he was portraying Landon correctly, but I'm not falling for that!

Michael Caine is up there too- he sucks you into anything he's in. I really enjoyed him and Nicholas Cage in The Weather Man.

Seriously the WORST movie I have ever seen. I'd never walked out on a movie in the theater before I went and saw this. And I like both Michael Caine (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is awesome) and I love cage.

Weather Man was piss poor. I didn't believe any of the acting, and there were more gratuitous and unnecessary sexual references in that movie than any other I've seen. It was appalling. There were people laughing at certain parts just because it made them uncomfortable...weak movie.

It was a polarizing movie. Some people got it, some didn't, much like Napoleon Dynamite. It had a lot of "loser" comedy, and Michael Caine's deadpan responses were a riot.

Oh, and you went to an R rated movie, what did you expect? People to say "Gosh golly gee!" and have them watching cartoons or something?

That's what happened to Steve Martin. You see him in Shop Girl? I bit of a chick flick, but a VERY good story, and Steve was great!

Yep, Tom Hanks is great. There are a few others I'd place up with him in terms of talent and/or how much I personally enjoy their movies: Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, Kevin Spacey, Gary Sinise, and Gary Oldman come to mind, among others.

And while Keanu Reeves isn't the greatest actor ever, I've heard he's an incredibly nice guy in real life, which always goes a long way in having me respect someone's abilities.
